Long Island Coast
Barrier beaches, inlets, bays, and open ocean create a year-round corridor for shorebirds, terns, gulls, and sea ducks.
Season: Year-round

Coastal birding changes with wind, tide, and season. Scan exposed flats around lower tide, watch feeding lines beyond the breakers, and give resting flocks a wide berth. A spotting scope helps, but careful attention with binoculars is enough to begin.
